About

During the pandemic my family communicated through zoom chats. All too often the chats had no direction. One day, I walked passed the Aero theatre in Santa mOnica where I lived and noted that it was playing the Movie The wild bunch. “my Father has always wanted me to watch that movie,” I said.

Before I knew It, relatives more ambitious than myself had transformed our free-for-all zoom calls into a curated movie-by-genre club. The Film Savvy selected a representative movie from each Decade Starting with Westerns. Then we moved on to Noir/Thriller.

I realized a number of these classic movies were in fact based on books that I had never heard of, even thought the books are in print. I’ve read a lot of books, so I figured if I had never heard of these books, probably you haven’t either. This blog is my attempt to shine a light on good reads that are fading into obscurity. The only requirements for the reviews are that both the Movie and the Book it was based on are at least 50 years old.
